PIONEER FAMILIES OF HAVRE BOUCHER

This historical journey begins with 20 family surnames many of which were referenced in the 1794 poll tax of Harbour au Bouche. A brief narrative is provided for each family surname addressing the circumstances surrounding their arrival in our area. We give a shout out to summer intern student Brooke Breen for her assistance in compiling these narratives. One striking characteristic common to many of the pioneer families is the massive out migration to the Massachusetts area in the latter part of the 19th century.
